Econotherm in briefEconotherm UK Ltd design and manufacture heat pipes and heat pipe heat exchangers for use in diverse areas of industrial waste heat recovery. We focus on difficult to recover waste heat, for example very hot and, or very dirty exhausts, or highly specialised applications. Since 2007 we have delivered our custom built solutions, ranging in size from a few kilowatts to several megawatts to blue chip clients in many industrial sectors around the globe. In January 2013 we became an associate company of Spirax Sarco Plc, a UK FTSE 150 company with market Cap in excess of £2 Billion.

Recovering The Irrecoverable

Recovering The IrrecoverableEconotherm® has successfully implemented heat recovery solutions in a range of applications previously considered not suitable for conventional equipment. Typically these applications have attributes of high temperatures, acid content and particulate that render them unsuitable for traditional shell and tube or plate heat exchangers. The heat pipe units with their reduced risk of failure and inherent multiple redundancy offer a vastly reduced risk profile to operators wishing to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

Heat Pipes

heat pipe exchangersEconotherm® heat pipe exchangers are used to recover waste heat from furnace, boiler, oven, thermal oxidiser, engine & incinerator exhaust. The recovered heat is converted to usable hot air, water or thermal oil for use in process, space heating and electrical generation to significantly reduce the clients fuel costs and corresponding CO2 emissions.

On a like for like basis the pipes are as much as 1000 times more heat conductive than copper. Our patented production process is unique in that it has removed many of the expensive steps in the process thus offering very cost effective pipes to the marketplace.

Econotherm® Econotherm has been awarded £162K funding through Innovate UK and the Newton overseas development fund to develop a solution for clean air drying of Mate Tea in Brazil. econotherm">Econotherm® Econotherm will lead a consortium that includes Brunel University, Sennai and Ervateira of Brazil which will develop and implement a novel heat pipe based air drying solution to address a particular issue in the Mate Tea processing.
Econotherm® Econotherm has been awarded 394K Euros EU Horizon 2020 funding as a technology partner in the DREAM consortium to develop a new Eco ceramic tile kiln. Working with Brunel University and other specialist partners including the worlds largest ceramic tile kiln manufacturer the project will commence in October 2016 and run for approximately 30 months. The objective is to produce an ultra efficient ceramic tile kiln that utilises Econotherm heat pipes at it’s core.
Econotherm® Econotherm has been awarded 298K Euros EU Horizon 2020 funding as a technology partner in the SMARTREC consortium to develop new industrial heat recovery and thermal storage solutions utilising heat pipe technology. Working in collaboration with Brunel university and other European technology specialists the project will run for approximately 30 months. The resulting solutions will be rolled out to high energy using industrial customers.
